Dave Meltzer noted on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that AEW and WBD (Warner Bros. Discovery) executives are looking to avoid direct competition with WWE on Saturday nights going forward. That is why Collision will not air on Saturday, April 19, but instead on Thursday, April 17, as that would have seen them in direct competition with WWE WrestleMania 41 Night One.
The report also mentioned that AEW is likely to move Collision to Thursday nights. This decision is being driven by TBS and TNT executives, who prefer to avoid competing with a wrestling program on NBC and WWE’s premium live events on Saturdays, particularly major shows like WrestleMania.
One upcoming potential scheduling conflict is expected in May when WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event will air on the same night as AEW Collision. However, AEW is reportedly planning to move that week’s Collision to a different day to avoid direct competition.
